Fresno, California (February 9, 2021) – A pedestrian and a driver were critically injured Monday in a traffic accident in Fresno, according to a local news source.

On February 8, emergency personnel responded to the area of Clinton Avenue and Van Ness Boulevard for a report of a car accident.

Upon arrival, they determined that a van was heading eastbound on Clinton Avenue when, for unknown reasons, it collided with a Mini Cooper.

Police said a pedestrian was trapped underneath the vehicles and had to be rescued by emergency responders.

The pedestrian and the driver of the Mini Cooper sustained critical injuries and were taken to a local hospital. Their names and condition were not immediately disclosed.

The van driver was arrested by the authorities. It was not immediately clear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
