Ventura, California (June 11, 2020) – Two people were hit and killed by a Ventura train Tuesday as they attempted to free their dog, which was stuck on the tracks, according to Ventura County sheriff’s officials.

The report said the two were walking with their dog along a railroad bridge near the intersection of Auto Center and Johnson drives.

They spotted a train coming and safely ran off the bridge, but their dog got stuck on the tracks.

The dog couldn’t get free, and they had to go and try to free it.

The speeding train struck and killed all three before they could move out of the tracks.

Authorities said the deaths were ruled an accident.
