14 Hospitalized, 17-Year-Old Teen Arrested after East Los Angeles Car Accident on Whittier Boulevard and Downey Road
East Los Angeles, California (August 19, 2020) – Fourteen people were injured, three critically, in an alleged DUI crash on Wednesday morning in East Los Angeles, police said.
The crash happened at about 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of Whittier Boulevard and Downey Road.
According to the authorities, a Metro bus plowed into a Volkswagen Beetle, driven by a 17-year-old teen, at the intersection in unclear circumstances.
Following the collision, the Beetle appeared mangled at the corner of the sidewalk.

A total of fourteen victims were taken to the hospital. Three parties were critically injured while the other eleven sustained minor injuries.
The teen was reportedly arrested on suspicion of DUI.
More details about the accident were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
