1 Killed in Car Accident on Highway 78 near San Marcos Boulevard in San Marcos
San Marcos, California (January 7, 2021) – A person was killed in a car crash that happened early Thursday morning in San Marcos.
According to a local news source, the accident happened on State Route 78 near West San Marcos Boulevard at about 6:15 a.m.
A vehicle reportedly crashed off the roadway for unknown reasons.
The car ended up about 20 feet down an embankment.
The California Highway Patrol said one person was killed in the accident.
The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.
Two right lanes of the highway remained closed as the authorities examined the scene of the accident.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
