One Killed in Highway 1 Crash near Stenner Creek in San Luis Obispo
San Luis Obispo, California (January 15, 2021) – One person died Friday evening after two vehicles collided on State Route 1 in San Luis Obispo, according to CALFIRE.
The fatal crash took place at about 6:40 p.m. on Highway 1 near Stenner Creek Road and involved two vehicles.
According to CHP officials, a man was driving a black Toyota Corolla southbound on Highway 1 when, for some reason, the vehicle drifted off the roadway and crashed into some trees. The vehicle then bounced back into the roadway, where it was hit by an oncoming Ford pickup truck.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The pickup truck driver escaped uninjured.
The name of the victim was not immediately released pending notification of the next of kin.
No additional information about the crash was provided.
The collision is under investigation.
