Mission Bay, California (November 26, 2020) – One person was killed and eight others were hospitalized after a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday night in Mission Bay, according to a local news source.

The deadly accident, which involved at least three vehicles, occurred at around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, in the southbound lane of Interstate 5 off-ramp to Sea World Drive, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The CHP said a pickup driven recklessly in the southbound lane of Interstate 5 cut off at least one other vehicle. A second pickup suddenly swerved out of the way of the first pickup and rolled over.

Deadly Crash on Interstate 5 in Mission Bay

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and extricated several people who were trapped in the overturned vehicles.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene while eight others, including at least one child, were transported to area hospitals for treatment.

The accident remains under investigation.
