One Killed, Two Injured in Modesto Crash on Oakdale Road near Scenic Drive

Modesto, California (June 24, 2021) – One person was killed early Thursday morning in an alleged DUI crash in Modesto, according to Modesto police.
The deadly crash, which involved a car and a truck, happened at about 2:30 a.m. on Oakdale Road, just north of Scenic Drive.
Police said a sedan was traveling northbound on Oakdale Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then veered into the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming truck.

A female passenger in the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of relatives.
The male driver of the sedan sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The operator of the truck had minor injuries.
Investigators later determined that the driver of the sedan may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident. Police said the driver faces charges of homicide, DUI, and vehicular homicide after being released from the hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
