Butte Valley, California (July 11, 2019) – A person was killed and another was hospitalized Thursday afternoon after a three-vehicle crash in Butte Valley, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly accident happened at about 2:00 p.m. on Clark Road, just north of Butte College and involved a 2017 White Kenworth tree service truck, a blue 1993 Ford Ranger and a 2016 Ford F-150.

The CHP said the Kenworth tree service truck collided head-on with the Ford Ranger on Clark Road near Circle J Road for an unknown reason.  The Ranger spun out of control after the impact and struck the Ford F-150.

The driver of the 1993 Ford Ranger died in the accident. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

The operator of the tree service truck, only identified as a 65-year-old man out of Los Angeles, was transported to Enloe Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of the F-150, Identified as Zach Farris 30, of Paradise, was not injured.

State Route 191 (Clark Road) north of Butte College was closed in both directions as authorities investigated the cause of the crash. As of 4:15 p.m. the road was reopened.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
