Transient Man Dies in San Leandro Amtrak Train Accident at Hesperian Boulevard Crossing
San Leandro, California (October 25, 2019) – A transient man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in San Leandro Thursday afternoon, according to police.
The deadly crash happened at around 2:20 p.m. Thursday, October 24 at the Hesperian Boulevard crossing.
According to a local news source, the man was caught on surveillance cameras pushing a shopping cart around a gate and into the path of the oncoming train.
The man whose name has not been disclosed pending family notification died in the crash.
Further details were not immediately available, and the accident remains under investigation.
