34-Year-Old Salinas Man, Passenger Killed in Lucerne Valley Collision on State Route 247 near Parmeson Road
Lucerne Valley, California (July 16, 2021) – A head-on collision has claimed the lives of two people Thursday night in Lucerne Valley, authorities said.
The deadly wreck happened at about 11:21 p.m. Thursday, July 15, on State Route 247, just west of Parmeson Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 34-year-old Salinas man was driving a 2006 Honda Accord westbound on State Route 247 when, for unknown reasons, he allowed the vehicle to drift into the eastbound lane, where it collided head-on with an oncoming 2006 GMC Yukon driven by a 50-year-old Lancaster man.

The driver of the Honda and his right-front passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not been disclosed.
The left rear passenger of the Honda and the driver of the GMC Yukon were taken airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash.
