Rosina Szele Dies After Train Hits Car at San Pedro and Los Ranchitos Roads in San Rafael
Rosina Szele ID’d as Woman Killed in San Rafael Train Accident at North San Pedro and Los Ranchitos Roads
San Rafael, California (October 6, 2020) – Authorities have identified the woman who died after her car was hit by a SMART train last month in San Rafael as Rosina Szele, 82, of San Rafael.
The accident was reported shortly before 4:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17 at North San Pedro and Los Ranchitos roads.
A sedan, driven by Szele, was traveling on North San Pedro Road when it came to a stop on the railway tracks as the SMART train approached.
The train ultimately struck the sedan. Due to the impact, the car was thrown nearly 100 feet.
Deadly Train Collision on North San Pedro in San Rafael
Szele was taken to Marin Health Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries at about 11:15 a.m. on September 22.
The accident remains under investigation.
