Man Killed, 1 Injured in Oceanside Rear-End Accident on Mission Avenue at Airport Road
Oceanside, California (June 17, 2020) – One person was killed and another was injured Wednesday morning in a fiery traffic accident at an intersection in Oceanside, San Diego County.
According to police, the deadly collision happened at around 11:00 a.m. on Mission Avenue at Airport Road.
Witnesses told the authorities that a sedan was heading westbound at a high rate of speed when the driver made a sudden lane change directly behind where a soda delivery truck was parked with its hazard lights activated.
The sedan then crashed into the rear of the truck. The sedan caught fire after the impact.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and freed the driver and the unconscious passenger from the burning car.
Both victims were then transported to a local hospital where the passenger succumbed to his injuries. The sedan driver was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said the truck was not occupied at the time of the accident.
Alcohol was considered a factor in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
