CHP Officer Injured in El Cajon Accident on Interstate 8
El Cajon, California (February 19, 2019) – A California Highway Patrol Officer was transported to the hospital on Monday after his vehicle was struck by a car while responding to a call in El Cajon, a local news source reported.
The accident took place on February 18 on an Interstate 8 off-ramp. The exact time when the crash happened was not reported.
As per the news source, the CHP officer was sitting inside a patrol vehicle when a sedan traveling at a high rate of speed lost control on a curve and crashed into the officer’s car.
The officer was providing traffic control at the scene of an earlier accident on the off-ramp from eastbound I-8 to Mission Gorge Road.
It’s unclear what injuries the officer suffered as a result of the collision. The victim was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment by paramedics.
The crash investigation is ongoing.
