Wayne Prodger ID’d as Flight Instructor Killed in Hayward Helicopter Crash at Hayward Executive Airport
Hayward, California (July 16, 2019) – The flight instructor who was killed in a helicopter crash on Monday afternoon in Hayward has been identified as Wayne Prodger, 62, of Sunnyvale, according to the authorities.
The fatal helicopter accident happened at about 2:30 p.m. July 15, at Hayward Executive Airport.
According to the authorities, the student was taking lessons with the Pacific Helicopters flight school. Both were practicing takeoffs and landings when a Robinson R44 helicopter crashed on the left side of Runway 28L at Hayward Executive Airport.
Wayne Prodger Killed in Hayward Plane Crash
Prodger was identified as the flight instructor. He was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The student sustained major injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
The authorities said the student and flight instructor were the only occupants of the helicopter.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
