Woman Critically Injured in Palo Alto Pedestrian Accident on U.S. Highway 101
Palo Alto, California (June 16, 2019) – A woman was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning in Palo Alto, according to a local news source.
The crash occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on southbound U.S. Highway 101.
Authorities said the accident happened when motorists were looking at the crash scene on the northbound side of U.S. 101. One car crashed into the rear of another vehicle.
Moments later, a woman in the car that was struck from the behind walked into the southbound lanes and was hit by another vehicle on the freeway.
The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was listed in critical condition. Her name was not immediately released.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI. The name of the suspect has not been disclosed.
The accident remains under investigation.
