Fontana, California (May 25, 2019) – A man was killed in a work-related accident at a California Steel Industries plant in Fontana early Tuesday morning, according to the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health.

The incident was reported at about 3:30 a.m. May 21, in the 14000 block of San Bernardino Avenue.

According to the report, the victim was a materials handler who was using a work table when he got pinned between a belt and a mandrel.

The firefighters with San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the incident and extricated the trapped employee.

Man Dies in Fontana Work Accident

The victim was rushed to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, where he was pronounced dead on Wednesday, May 22. His identity was not immediately released pending notification of the next of kin.

No one else was hurt in the accident.

The Cal/OSHA is investigating the incident.
