Fairfield, California (May 8, 2019) – One person was killed and three other people were injured Wednesday afternoon in a multi-car collision in Fairfield, Solano County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly accident was reported at around 3:22 p.m. in the area of Highway 12 and Beck Avenue.

The CHP said four cars were stopped at a red light in the No. 1 lane of eastbound state Highway 12 at Beck Avenue when for an unknown reason a Volkswagen Passat was hit from behind by a white Mercedes Benz van.

The Volkswagen was forced into the back of a gray Honda sedan, which struck BMW sedan. The BMW then rear-ended an Audi sedan.

Fatal Multi-Vehicle Rear-End Collision on Highway 12 in Fairfield Wednesday

The driver of the Volkswagen, only identified as a Suisun City man, was declared dead at the scene. His name has been released pending notification of family.

Occupants of three other vehicles sustained minor injuries in the wreck.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
