Mike Alcaraz ID’d as Bicyclist Killed in Santa Ana Accident on Standard Avenue and 1st Street

Santa Ana, California (May 8, 2019) – 60-year-old Mike Alcaraz, of La Habra, has been identified as the bicyclist who was struck by a car and killed on Sunday night in Santa Ana, according to authorities.
The crash was reported at about 8:30 p.m. May 5, on eastbound Standard Avenue and 1st Street.
Orange County Sheriff-Coroner said Alcaraz was on the eastbound sidewalk at the crossing when he suddenly fell and landed in the traffic lanes. The driver of a grey Dodge Charger was unable to avoid the bicyclist and struck him.
Alcaraz was seriously injured and transported to Orange County Global Medical Center and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The driver of the Dodge was not injured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
