Luis Castro ID’d as Sunnyvale Man Killed in Santa Clara Car Accident at Saratoga Avenue and Los Padres Boulevard

Santa Clara, California (April 28, 2019) – The 22-year-old Sunnyvale man who was killed Thursday morning in a traffic accident at an intersection in Santa Clara has been identified as Luis Castro.
The deadly crash was reported at about 9:48 a.m. Thursday, April 25 at the intersection of Saratoga Avenue and Los Padres Boulevard.
According to the authorities, a blue Ford Focus driven by a 77-year-old Santa Clara woman, was turning right from Los Padres Boulevard onto westbound Saratoga Avenue when it was hit by a black Ford Fusion driven by Castro, which was speeding.
The force of the impact caused the Focus to crash into a parked car on the north side of Saratoga Avenue while the Ford Fusion rolled over and struck a tree in the center divider before coming to a stop against a parked car on the north side of Saratoga Avenue.
Fatal Car Crash in Santa Clara Thursday
Castro was taken to Valley Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the Focus complained of pain, but she refused further medical treatment.
