Novato, California (April 18, 2019) – An American Canyon woman was injured in a fatal two-vehicle collision that left a wrong-way driver dead on Tuesday night in Novato, according to the CHP.
The incident took place on Highway 37 near Atherton Avenue at about 9:20 p.m. April 16.
CHP said Joanna Sualog, 44, of American Canyon was driving a Volkswagen Golf eastbound on Highway 37 when she collided with a wrong-way Hyundai Elantra. The Elantra nearly struck two CHP motorcycle officers that was in front of Sualog.

Sualog sustained minor-to-moderate injuries in the collision.
The driver of the Hyundai, Linda Abrahams, 70, of Bodega Bay, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
It’s unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.
The CHP is working to find out why the driver was going the wrong way.
