42-Year-Old Man Seriously Injured in Kearny Mesa Bicycle Crash on Balboa Avenue near State Route 163
Kearny Mesa, California (April 11, 2019) – A bicyclist was struck and seriously injured by a commercial truck Thursday morning in Kearny Mesa, according to police.
The accident took place at around 7:50 a.m. on Balboa Avenue near state Route 163.
Police said the 42-year-old man was riding his bicycle westbound in the eastbound bike lane on Balboa Avenue when the truck pulled out of a parking lot and struck him.

The bicyclist sustained serious injuries, including broken bones and internal injuries, and was transported to a hospital. His name and condition at this time remained unknown.
The operator of the truck, a 25-year-old man, was not injured in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
