At Least 1 Seriously Injured in 2-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 5 in San Diego
At Least One Sustains Major Injuries in San Diego Crash on Interstate 5 near Basilone Road
San Diego, California (March 24, 2019) – At least one person was seriously injured Saturday morning in a two-car accident on Interstate 5, just south of the Orange County line, according to a local news source.
The wreck occurred at about 10:40 a.m. Saturday, March 23 on northbound Interstate 5 near Basilone Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, two vehicles collided for some reasons on the northbound side of Interstate 5. Both cars came to rest in the center median after the impact.
Major Injury Car Accident on Interstate 5 near Orange County line Saturday
Firefighters responded to the scene and extricated one person from the damaged vehicle. The CHP said one of the victims sustained major injuries and it was immediately unclear if the two are the same person.
It remained unknown how many people were in each vehicle.
The left lane of northbound I-5 was shut down as authorities worked to clear the scene. Traffic was snarled through Camp Pendleton.
The crash remains under investigation.
