At Least One Person Killed in Kern County Plane Crash in Tehachapi Mountains

Kern County, California (February 23, 2019) – At least one person died in a fatal plane crash in Kern County, according to a report by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office on Friday.
The incident happened in the Tehachapi Mountains, approximately nine miles from Tehachapi.
Authorities said the twin-engine Beechcraft BE-55 took off at about 4 p.m. Thursday, February 21 from San Luis Obispo destined for Whiteman Airport in Pacoima.
At about 10:30 p.m., the Kern County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the overdue plane, prompting a search that began in the area of I-5 and Highway 166. The wreckage was located in the mountaintop in Tehachapi Mountains.
Three people were reportedly on board the plane at the time of the wreck but one body was located at the scene. No immediate details were provided on the other victims involved.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.
