Megan Cota, Tulio Viana Killed in Pacifica Car Crash on Highway 1
Pacifica, California (February 11, 2019) – The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office has identified the two people killed in a two-vehicle accident involving a wrong-way driver in Pacifica early Saturday morning.
Megan Alyssa Cota, 23, of San Francisco and Tulio de Giovanni Lima Viana, 23, of Daly City, died in the wreck that was reported at about 4:18 a.m. February 9, on Highway 1 near Clarendon Road.
CHP said a Toyota Prius was heading south in the northbound lanes of Highway 1 when it collided head-on with an oncoming Chevrolet Silverado.
Both Cota and Viana were passengers in the Toyota and were killed in the accident.
The Toyota driver was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital with critical injuries. Two men riding in the Chevrolet were also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
