Johnny Mendoza and Cecilia Padilla Injured, Jose Mendoza Killed in Madera Crash on Avenue 12 at Road 25

Madera, California (February 7, 2019) – A Madera man was killed and two other people were injured Friday in a traffic crash in Madera, the California Highway Patrol said.
The deadly accident happened at an unspecified time Friday, February 1 on Avenue 12 at Road 25.
According to the CHP, a 2005 Impala driven by Johnny Mendoza, 76, of Madera, was traveling westbound on Avenue 12 at around 55 MPH when for an undetermined reason a 2012 Chevy Malibu heading eastbound, driven by Cecilia Padilla, 29, turned in front of it.
The Impala then hit the Malibu on the passenger’s side. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to spin around.
Jose Mendoza, 81, of Madera, who was a passenger in the Impala, was declared dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Both drivers, Johnny Mendoza and Cecilia Padilla, were transported to Madera Community Hospital with minor injuries.
Alcohol or drugs were not suspected factors in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
