46-Year-Old Gridley Man Dies in Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Crash on Highway 99 in Butte County
Gridley Man Killed in Butte County Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99 near Sutter County Line
Butte County, California (February 4, 2019) – The man who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Butte County on Saturday night has been identified as a 46-year-old Gridley resident.
According to the CHP, the accident happened at about 11:45 p.m. February 2 on Highway 99, just north of the Butte/Sutter County line.
CHP said the Gridley man was driving southbound on Highway 99 when his car broke down and he pulled to the side. A friend also pulled to the side to assist the stranded driver.
The authorities said the two then tried to cross the highway and an oncoming 2008 Toyota slammed into the Gridley man.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released pending notification of the next of kin.
The CHP is investigating the crash.
