Sacramento, California (January 29, 2019) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday morning in south Sacramento, authorities said.

The deadly accident happened on Elk Grove-Florin Road, just south of Gerber Road.

According to the authorities, the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle for an unknown reason on Elk Grove-Florin Road.

The person died in the accident. The name of the deceased victim has not been disclosed pending identification and notification of family.

A lane was shut down as authorities investigated the accident. Traffic was back up in the area and motorists were urged to seek alternate routes.

The crash remains under investigation.
