Redlands, California (January 15, 2019) – A driver was hospitalized early Tuesday morning following a traffic accident involving two semi-trucks in the Redlands area, authorities said.

The collision occurred at about 5:00 a.m. on the eastbound side of Interstate 10, between Yucaipa Boulevard and Wabash Avenue.

Details on how the accident happened were not immediately available, but authorities said one of the trucks ended up down an embankment and heavily damaged with a ruptured tank, which spilled about 25 gallons of diesel fuel onto the soil.

A man in his 60s, who was the driver of the vehicle, was treated at the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

A hazmat team was dispatched to the scene to clean the area, due to the fuel spill.

No other injuries were reported.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
