47-Year-Old Man Seriously Injured in El Cajon Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 8 Off-Ramp to Second Street

El Cajon, California (January 7, 2019) – A pedestrian was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle Monday morning in El Cajon, according to authorities.
The accident happened at around 8:05 a.m. at the Interstate 8 off-ramp to Second Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian, a 47-year-old man, was walking in a crosswalk of the Interstate 8 exit when for an unknown reason he was hit by a Dodge van.
The man complained of pain to his leg and was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego. His name and condition at this time remained unknown.
The driver of the van, a 50-year-old man, stopped at the scene and complied with investigators.
No further details were immediately disclosed. The crash remains under investigation.
