Ventura County, CA: Fatal Head-On Crash on State Route 34 in Camarillo
65-Year-Old Oxnard Man Killed, 27-Year-Old Man Injured in Camarillo Car Accident on State Route 34 near Pleasant Valley Road
Ventura County, California (January 7, 2019) – One person was killed and another was injured Monday morning in a head-on collision in Camarillo, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly wreck occurred at around 6:20 a.m. on State Route 34, just east of Pleasant Valley Road.
The CHP said a Nissan pickup truck driven by a 65-year-old Oxnard man, was heading westbound on State Route 34 when for an undetermined reason it veered into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a Ford pickup driven by a 27-year-old man, also from Oxnard.
The Nissan driver was pronounced dead at the scene by firefighters. The driver of the Ford was taken to St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital with minor injuries. The names of both the deceased and the injured victim have not been released.
Both vehicles sustained major damage.
Authorities said heavy and intermittent rain was falling at the time of the accident. The crash remains under investigation.
