Yu Liu Hunt ID’d as Driver Killed in Deadly San Luis Obispo Car Crash on Los Osos Valley Road near Foothill Boulevard
San Luis Obispo, California (January 5, 2019) – The driver who was killed in a fatal wrong-way crash on Thursday morning in San Luis Obispo has been identified as Yu Liu Hunt, 52, of San Luis Obispo, according to the CHP.
The deadly accident occurred at around 7:20 a.m. January 3, on Los Osos Valley Road, just east of Foothill Boulevard.
The CHP said Hunt was driving a Honda Civic westbound in the eastbound lanes when it collided head-on with a silver Dodge driven by Jeffrey Raidor, 42, of Los Osos. The vehicle directly in front of the Dodge was able to swerve out of the way to avoid the oncoming Civic, but Raidor could not move in time to prevent the crash.
A CHP officer and a motorist passing by helped pull Hunt out of her vehicle and performed CPR on her. The medical personnel soon arrived and transported Hunt to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, where she was pronounced dead.
Raidor was also taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical with a broken ankle and pain to his body.
Both drivers were the sole occupants of their cars.
The crash remains under investigation.
