Bakersfield, California (January 1, 2019) – A man was arrested after a hit-and-run collision that injured a Kern County Sheriff’s deputy on Sunday afternoon, according to the authorities.

The crash happened at about 3:30 p.m. December 30 near East California Avenue and Owens Street.

The report showed that 19-year-old Jesus Martinez-Mendoza struck the deputy vehicle and fled the scene.

The suspect was later arrested on charges of DUI, hit-and-run among other charges.

The deputy was treated for minor injuries.
