Kelly Cass ID’d as Woman Hurt in Citrus Heights Skateboard Crash on Auburn Boulevard
Citrus Heights, California (January 1, 2019) – The woman who was injured in a hit-and-run accident while riding a skateboard in Citrus Heights on Thursday evening has been identified as Kelly Cass, 27, of Sacramento, according to a local news source.
The incident was reported at about 5:40 p.m. December 27 on Auburn Boulevard near Charwood Lane.
Police said a sedan struck Kelly as she rode a skateboard to work. The impact caused the rider to go through the car’s windshield. The driver of the car failed to stop and continued traveling with the victim in the passenger side of the car.
The driver of the vehicle abandoned the car with the victim inside and fled the scene.
Kelly called the authorities, who later located her on Mariposa Avenue near Community Drive and inside the vehicle involved.
The victim was transported to a hospital with major injuries that were not considered life-threatening. According to the news source, Kelly remained hospitalized as of Monday, December 31.
Citrus police conducted a search and later arrested a suspect in connection with the crash. The suspect was identified as Angel Huerta, 27, of Sacramento. He was charged with felony DUI, felony hit-and-run, kidnapping and parole violation.
The incident is under investigation.
