Modesto, California (July 27, 2021) – Authorities have identified the woman who was injured after being struck by a vehicle Thursday night in Modesto as Sherry Armstrong, 46, of Merced.

The crash was reported at around 8:36 p.m. Thursday, July 22, in the area of Highway 99 and Childs Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP said Armstrong was walking eastbound across the northbound Highway 99 off-ramp when, for an unknown reason, a 2016 Honda Civic hit her.

Armstrong sustained moderate to major injuries and was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Daniel Uribe Jr., 24, of Atwater, the driver of the Honda, stopped at the scene and was cooperative, authorities.

Impairment was not suspected to have played a role in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
