Escalon, California (July 21, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Sunday night traffic accident that killed a 56-year-old man from Dos Palos and left three other parties, including a child, injured in Escalon.

The deadly accident occurred at about 9:00 p.m., on July 18, at the intersection of Mariposa Road and Dodds Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Fortino Reyes-Domingo, 45, of Manteca, was driving a 2015 Chevy southbound on Dodds Road, north of Mariposa Road, when it collided with a 1999 Chevy.

The 1999 Chevy, driven by the 56-year-old Dos Palos man, was reportedly driving eastbound on Mariposa Road, west of Dodds Road.

Sadly, 56-year-old Dos Palos man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.

A 50-year-old Dos Palos woman, who was a passenger in the 1999 Chevy, sustained major injuries and was rushed to San Joaquin County General Hospital.

A 52-year-old Manteca woman was a passenger in the 2015 Chevy and sustained moderate injuries in the crash. She was also taken to San Joaquin County General Hospital. A 10-year-old girl from Manteca was also a passenger in the 2015 Chevy. She was taken to UC Davis with moderate injuries.

Reyes-Domingo was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody. He was booked into San Joaquin County Jail.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
