Greg Knapp Hurt in San Ramon Accident on Dougherty Road near North Monarch Road
San Ramon, California (July 20, 2021) – A bicycle rider was hospitalized with major injuries after a traffic collision in San Ramon on Saturday afternoon, according to police.
The incident happened at around 2:50 p.m. July 17, on Dougherty Road, just north of North Monarch Road.
Police said Greg Knapp, 58, the New York Jets assistant coach, was riding a bike in the bicycle lane northbound on Dougherty Road when he was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by a 22-year-old Danville man.

Knapp sustained major injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
Drugs and alcohol were not suspected to be factors in the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
