Man Killed in Fresno Crash at Highway 41 and Friant Avenue

Fresno, California (July 20, 2021) – A head-on collision has claimed the life of a man Tuesday afternoon at an intersection in Fresno, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The fatal crash was reported at about 4:30 p.m. in the area of Highway 41 and Friant Avenue and involved two vehicles.
According to the CHP, a man in his 40s was driving southbound on Highway 41 when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle crossed over the center divider and entered into the northbound lanes, where it collided head-on with an SUV that was exiting the northbound lanes from the Friant Avenue off-ramp.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
The SUV driver did not suffer any severe injuries. Both drivers were sole occupants of their vehicles, the CHP said.
It is undetermined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
The crash remains under investigation.
