Woodland, California (July 18, 2021) – One person died after being struck by an alleged hit-and-run driver, 19-year-old Mario Lopez, in Woodland Friday morning.

The fatal pedestrian accident took place near Pioneer Avenue and Tide Court at approximately 8:30 a.m.

A 62-year-old man was reportedly struck by a vehicle near the Woodland intersection for undetermined reasons.

The unidentified pedestrian was declared dead at the crash site.

Meanwhile, Lopez did not stop to render aid to the victim and escaped the scene.

Mario’s car was later located by the Woodland Police Department in the 1600 block of Gillette Drive, near East Gum Avenue, and arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run. 

An investigation into the accident is underway.
