Driver Killed, Passenger Hospitalized after Ceres Collision at Central Avenue and East Hatch Road

Ceres, California (July 17, 2021) – One person was killed and another was injured Saturday evening after a police chase ended in a traffic collision in Ceres, police said.
At about 6:00 p.m., police officers attempted to pull over a Silver Volkswagen Beatle near Central Avenue at Herndon Road. The driver of the vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued.
When the pursuit approached the intersection of Central Avenue and East Hatch Road, the suspect lost control of their vehicle and slammed into a semi-truck.
Fatal Ceres Car Crash
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and extricated the Volkswagen Beatle’s driver and the passenger from the wrecked car.
Sadly, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene while the passenger was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Their names have not been disclosed.
Further details about the crash were not immediately disclosed.
