Davis, California (July 16, 2021) – Authorities have identified the man who died after being struck by a vehicle Sunday night near Davis as Christian Hammons, 25.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash occurred shortly before midnight on Sunday, July 11, on Interstate 80, just east of County Road 32A.

Hammons was trying to push a disabled 2016 Toyota on the interstate and was slightly in the slow lane when a 2010 Cadillac traveling in the third lane struck him, the CHP said.

Hammons fell into the traffic lanes and was hit by two other vehicles, one of which continued without stopping.

A third car, a 2016 Nissan, slammed into the Cadillac.

Fatal Car Crash on Interstate 80

Hammons was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

It is undetermined if intoxication played a role in the collision.
