Monterey, California (July 14, 2021) – Alice Diane Emig, 61, of Rancho Cordova, was among two women who were killed when a small plane crashed into a house Tuesday morning near Monterey Regional Airport.

The deadly accident happened shortly after 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, on Monterra Ranch Road near Highway 68.

The plane, a twin-engine Cessna 421, had just left the Monterey Regional Airport when it crashed into the house nearly one mile from the airport.

The impact of the crash sparked a fire, which spread into nearby brush.

The two women onboard the plane were killed in the accident.

Emig was a passenger on the plane along with her dog, Toby.

Foggy weather was considered a factor in the accident.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Authority and the National Transportation Safety Board.
