Santa Margarita, California (July 13, 2021) – A man was killed in a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle near Santa Margarita on Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred on Highway 101 and Tassajara Creek Road at about 9:40 p.m. July 12.

CHP said Randolph Earl, 67, of Atascadero, was riding a 1997 Harley northbound on Highway 101 when he slammed into the side of a 2021 Jeep that made a turn onto the highway from Tassajara Creek Road.

Earl was ejected by the impact of the accident.

CHP said Earl was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Jeep, a 45-year-old Sacramento man, was not injured in the crash.

CHP said alcohol and drugs were not suspected in the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
