Woman Arrested in Fatal Bakersfield Motorcycle Crash at Coffee and Hageman Roads

Bakersfield, California (July 6, 2021) – Authorities have arrested a suspected involved in a motorcycle accident that killed a 13-year-old boy in January in Bakersfield.
The deadly crash happened at the intersection of Coffee and Hageman Roads shortly before 1 p.m. January 10.
Authorities said Johnathan Deal was riding a motorcycle westbound on the roadway when an SUV, driven by Cristina Moreno-Gonzalez, made a left turn in front of him. Both vehicles eventually collided.
Deal’s stepson, 13-year-old Nicolas Peterson, who was riding as his passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deal was transported to Kern Medical with life-threatening injuries.
On July 2, Moreno-Gonzalez was arrested in connection with the deadly crash. She was charged with felony vehicle manslaughter with gross negligence and a traffic violation.
Moreno-Gonzalez was released after posting a bail of $50,000.
The crash remains under investigation.
