Three People Killed, One Hospitalized after Rialto Head-On Crash on South Riverside Avenue near Santa Ana Avenue
Rialto, California (June 30, 2021) – A head-on crash between a car and a box truck has claimed the lives of three people and left another person seriously injured Monday morning in Rialto, police said.
The deadly accident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. Monday, June 28, in the 2500 block of South Riverside Avenue near Santa Ana Avenue.
According to the authorities, a Nissan Altima was traveling southbound on Riverside Avenue towards Santa Ana Avenue at a high rate of speed when it abruptly turned and clipped the back of a Dodge Ram truck.
The Nissan then drifted into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a box truck.

The female driver of the Nissan and two of her passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not been released.
A fourth passenger in the Nissan was transported to a nearby hospital with major injuries.
The westbound lanes of the freeway were shut down to contain the fire that spread from the crash scene to the side of the road.
Further details regarding the mishap were not immediately available.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
