San Diego, California (June 29, 2021) – At least two people were injured late Monday night in a traffic crash involving a wrong-way driver in the City Heights area of San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident, which was reported shortly after 11:30 p.m. Monday, June 28, happened on the southbound side of Interstate 15 near the University Avenue exit.

Witnesses said a vehicle coming from the exit ramp was heading northbound in the southbound lane of Interstate 15 when it collided with another vehicle, which then struck a third car.

Interstate 15 Crash in City Heights Sends 2 to Hospital

At least two people were taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries. The names of the patients and their conditions were not immediately disclosed.

No other injuries were immediately reported.

The suspected wrong-way motorist was arrested after the crash.
