Pyramid Lake, California (June 28, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Monday afternoon hit-and-run accident involving a motorcycle that left one person injured in Pyramid Lake.

The accident occurred shortly before 2:00 p.m. on northbound lanes of Interstate 5, south of Smokey Bear Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a motorcycle collided with a vehicle on the roadway in unclear circumstances.

The rider was injured in the accident and was flown to a local hospital with moderate but not life-threatening injuries. He was also arrested after a registration check of the motorcycle he was riding came back stolen.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, authorities said.

Traffic on the roadway was stopped for an unknown period due to the accident.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
