Sacramento, California (June 25, 2021) – Edward Johnson, 76, was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a deadly auto-pedestrian collision in Sacramento on Wednesday afternoon, according to the authorities.

The crash happened at around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Stockton Boulevard and Lawrence Drive.

According to police, a sedan failed to stop for a red light and was struck by a minivan. The impact sent the sedan into a pedestrian walking in the area.

Edward Johnson Arrested after Fatal Sacramento DUI Crash 

The pedestrian, an adult male, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Johnson, who was driving the sedan, and his passenger, were both hospitalized with minor injuries. Johnson was later booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

The operator of the minivan was uninjured.

Police are investigating the incident.
