Vidal Calderon Hospitalized after Hughson Crash on Geer Road near East Hatch Road
Hughson, California (June 24, 2021) – Vidal Calderon, 61, of Delhi was injured in a fatal head-on crash that occurred on Wednesday afternoon near the Stanislaus Wildlife Care Center in Hughson, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident took place just before 2:30 p.m. June 23, on Geer Road, just north of East Hatch Road.
CHP said Calderon was driving a 2005 Chevy pickup south on Geer Road when, for unknown reasons, he drifted to the right and crashed into a raised curb.
The pickup then swerved into the path of oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a 2013 Nissan sedan.

The driver of the Nissan, a 33-year-old Sonora man, was killed in the accident.
Calderon sustained major injuries and was transported to Doctors Medical Center.
All parties involved in the crash were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. Investigators believed alcohol or drugs did not play a role in the crash.
The incident remained under investigation.
