David Hamilton ID’d as 1 of 2 Killed in Bakersfield Collision on Interstate 5 near State Route 43
Bakersfield, California (June 24, 2021) – One of the two people who died Wednesday morning following a traffic crash in Bakersfield has been identified as David Victor James Hamilton, 51, of Modesto, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
The deadly collision was reported at about 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 23 on Interstate 5 near State Route 43, the California Highway Patrol said.
According to the CHP, a vehicle, occupied by Hamilton and a 44-year-old Stockton man, was traveling southbound on Interstate 5 when their tire blew out, causing the vehicle to roll over.
The vehicle then slammed into the center median. As a result of the crash, Hamilton and the other occupant were ejected from the vehicle. One of them landed in the northbound lanes and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

Hamilton and the Stockton man were killed in the accident.
Another person in the other car sustained major injuries.
No further details about the crash were immediately provided.
