Diana Prieto-Chacon ID’d as Woman Killed in San Jose Accident at Agave Sports Bar on West Alma Avenue
San Jose, California (June 17, 2021) – Diana Prieto-Chacon, 35, has been identified as the woman who died following an accident where a vehicle crashed into the outdoor dining area of a bar in San Jose last Friday night, according to San Jose police.
The incident happened just after 9 p.m. June 11, at Agave Sports Bar on West Alma Avenue.
Police said a suspected drunk driver in a parked 2017 Chevrolet Silverado truck accidentally reversed through the parking lot and crashed into the outdoor dining area at a high rate of speed.
Diana Prieto-Chacon Killed in San Jose DUI Accident
The truck struck two men and a woman, who were in the dining area. The three were rushed to a hospital where one of them, identified as Diana Prieto-Chacon, was pronounced deceased.
The two injured men were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver, Alex Moreno, 32, of San Jose, was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. His bail was set at $275,000.
A female passenger in the truck was not injured in the collision.
Authorities said Moreno had just been asked to leave the bar after he was allegedly seen using cocaine in the open. He was also suspected to have been receiving oral sex from his 24-year-old passenger when the accident occurred.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
